Regional Projects
KIOS also engages in regional cooperation and supports areas outside its focus countries. Due to complex country contexts, we are not always able to communicate about all new projects.
Regional cooperation extends across multiple countries, either through regional organisations or collaborations between organisations from different countries. Women’s rights, anti-trafficking efforts, and strengthening the capacity and security of civil society organisations have been central themes in KIOS-supported regional initiatives. KIOS prioritises regional cooperation to achieve more effective human rights work.
Regional projects are supported in East Africa and South Asia, targeting KIOS focus countries and their neighboring areas. Through regional cooperation, the capacity and networks of human rights organisations are strengthened, and the safety of human rights defenders working in high-risk environments is improved.
