The humanitarian crisis in Gaza requires immediate action – KIOS joins in with over 600 NGOs calling for ceasefire

The humanitarian situation in Gaza is alarming and threatens the realization of people’s human rights. KIOS joins appeals with demands that an immediate ceasefire must be achieved and international agreements, humanitarian law, and human rights must be respected.

Over the past few weeks, we have witnessed unprecedented destruction and violence in both Gaza and Israel. KIOS, along with other NGOs, is demanding access to humanitarian aid in the area and a ceasefire. By joining the statement, we want to express our concern about the human rights situation. The humanitarian situation in Gaza is extremely worrying, with a shortage of basic necessities such as water and medicines. The conflict has already had significant human costs, with nearly 10,000 Gazans killed, including over 3,700 children. The number of Israeli casualties is around 1,400 people. All of this is happening at a time when the need for humanitarian aid is also significant on a global scale, and the gap between those in need and those receiving aid has reached historically high levels.

Immediate ceasefire is necessary to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe

KIOS is part of a coalition of over 600 civil society organizations demanding an immediate ceasefire. The appeal is directed at the international community and the UN Security Council. An immediate ceasefire is needed to prevent further loss of lives. Individuals can also sign the petition. Detailed instructions and the petition’s demands can be found here.
